I forgot about that scene lol
I chose PetSmart because they had the tank on sale 50% off and I had an additional $10 off coupon, so with tax it was $60 and some change. Then with that purchase my receipt has a $10 off $30 so I bought the Top Fin "universal" glass top that came out to $27 and some change. So about $88 to make the change. Yay for downsize time!

Man you jumped too quick on a folding top, I totally think the way you keep your fish room you would love a sliding top and likely have the skills to make one for $7 with the parts list I have. They're way more convenient for daily and easier to lift off and clean than those "hinges" and silky flappy things that clips to the back of the tank. New tank under $100 total is always a win though.
I really hate this top. The universal aspect has side and back filling pieces that are not standard. But it was cheap enough in the end so I will live with it for the meantime. Goal is for it to stay as a qt/hospital only and no more money to go into it. I have an Aquaclear 70 for it already and a spare heater.

Hooray for spares! It's only hoarding when everything is working lol I swapped the kiddos heater a week or two back. Didn't realize it was non adjustable, so figured better safe on that.

Four tank cleanings this afternoon. Just some drain and fill water changes and one Aquaclear in the garage fishroom. Got my heater situated in the 90 gallon where the Finnex died. The Fluval replacement seems to be working well.
My replacement tank for the fishroom change out looks huge sitting on the floor. A 40B should be a nice sized footprint to replace the Fluval and a better fit for my future needs as a quarantine tank.

Worked on painting the other side of my plywood base for where my 40B will go in the garage rack.
Lots of cleaning of garage tanks this morning. Cleaned out one Aquaclear and did some hardcore scrubbing on my 46g bowfront. The spiderwood in there always gets black beard algae on it. I decided to try cleaning with bleach to see if that would slow it down. Prepping that tank for my puffer. Still considering doing some live plants in there.

Stopped by Petsmart and got a pack of whole frozen krill. The red wolf and puffer both had their fill. Fed the severums some too. Ive used the San Francisco Bay brand of whole frozen krill for years and found the krill the perfect size for fish in my red wolf’s current size but a little small for the puffer. Saw that Aquarium Paradise carries the Hikari brand of whole frozen krill, cant tell if they are any bigger but may try that one next time. I need to get some frozen silversides for the puffer too but I want the smaller Hikari packs for these which I get at Pet Works. Wish I could get all my frozen food from just one place, maybe its time to order this stuff online too.
I used to use the whole krill from hikari from aquarium paradise to feed my 8-9” fahaka puffer.
I actually would break off a chunk of their flat packs and feed it to him frozen. His first couple of bites before it thawed out is the reason I always thought his beak stayed in peak shape. Of course I have no true evidence to support this, but I did enjoy watching him chomp a half dollar size of frozen krill in half in one bite…… kind of like chewing on ice

Got the 30 and a 10 taken down. Broke the bottom of the 10 so I'm thinking double decker 10 lol Seriously. I did the vivarium, but I can do better. Whether it's a safe place to keep plants or I fill the bottom with water and have some cool tall emersed stuff going, an attempt will be made lol Should be fun just learning how to take an aquarium apart.
Was just storing the 30, but I'm thinking maybe actually buying a green water starter and seeing if a larger surface area is more stable than the 1-5 gallon containers.

Ordered a new Aquaclear 110 for pick up this afternoon at Petsmart. This is one of the new style filter so I will be able to give some firsthand differences in it. I am going to use the new filter on one of the tighter areas where my filters are and that will be on a 65B that can be a bit challenging to get to. I will take one of the older aquaclears to put on my 40B qt/hospital tank and then all 6 garage tanks will have essentially the same filter, well at least media and some internal parts. Then that leaves me an AQ70 as a spare or emergency filter. While it would use the same intake tube as the older AQ110, I might just get another new style Aquaclear 110 and replace the other one on the 65B and then I would have one older style AQ110 as a back up. This would really be the best thing to do so that I can use one type of sponge, impeller, etc. Will see how the new style Aquaclear does first.
Last night there was a little concern for the well being of the new fish in the 90g so I put in a little frozen brine shrimp to get everyone's attention off the new guy and he ate along with everyone else. This morning before leaving for work he ate some pellets too. This tells me he is going to likely be an eating machine.

Set up the new Aquaclear last night and posted my thoughts in the 'Equipment' section. I reused the media from the old filter and cleaned that one out to be able to move it to the new 40B in the process of getting set up still.
Water changes on a couple tanks last night. just felt as if they needed it, not really dirty or anything.
This morning fed the 90g with the new gourami and he was chowing down on pellets. Eating very well and fins were looking like they were healing up. Kind of wondering about the stock in this tank, as long term with the gourami. The three red sevs and the gourami would be nice together in the 300...

The new gourami has been though two water changes since he has been with me and it looks like his tail and fins were completely healed already. This guy eats like a champ with no issues with pellets or frozen brine shrimp. He is just a bit small for the floating Omega One pellets but the smaller sinking he is doing very well with. At this point he is about the size of my Australian rainbows and because of his bland coloration, disappears into the tank. It takes me awhile to find the little guy sometimes.
