The 300 Gallon Build

Been a while since I've posted. Keeping up on this build has been hard with everything else going on.

Since my last post we decided to elongate the holes for the overflows, cut the openings for the doors and built a cart to help transport the tank from the garage into the rec room where it will stay. If everything goes well, the tank should be in it's final resting place and filled by tomorrow night.

The day is finally here! Had a few people over to help me lift the tank onto the dolly and roll it into the next room to be placed on the stand. Here are pictures of what followed-

Well after sitting full of water over night everything appears to be water tight.

After work today I'll be stopping by the store to see if I can find a couple heaters I like so I can start getting it up to temperature.

I already have a sponge filter soaking in one of my other tanks that I can move over when I'm ready.

So after work today I stopped by the store and picked up 2 Eheim 300w heaters. After getting home I set the heaters up, finished the filter install (had to modify a little) and got the power head and light set up.

I still need to cut some tops and decide if I'm going to keep everything where it is, but for now I like how it's set up.

Thank you! I think I will eventually, but I haven't decided what yet. I may use a solid color background I can tape on so I can change it periodically.

That's kind of what I do with most of mine -- paper, fabric, poster board. I also use sheets of styrofoam painted and cut to size.

Only the one FX6 going on it? Any other filtration?

Yeah, I think it will be plenty. It's set up for a sump, which I may try later if I decide I need a project, but for now it will only be the FX6.

Since my last update I've added a few new things to the tank. I started the tank off with 3 Oscars. After I let them have run of the tank for a week or so, I decided to add something a little bigger. I even picked up some Malaysian drift wood as a starting point for decorating the tank.

Over the weekend I finally gathered up the energy to snag my Arowana out of my 125 and move him into the 300 with the Datnoid. During this, I moved the 3 Oscars into the 125 until they're bigger.

Still deciding on what type of sand I want to use.
