Evolution of a 140 gallon long II

Tank is now fully converted to Finnex LED lighting. Plant grow is great.

Last weekend went through and overhauled tank. And added a few more plant species.

Alternathera reineckii , hygrophila austafolia , Vesicularia ferriei 'weeping', Bucephalandra 'ghost', crypt 'flamingo' .

Chad...your new plants look awesome already. That alternathera reineckii in the 1st shot...gorgeous. The tank does look lush already so I can imagine when growout happens what it will look like. It is a beautiful setup. Keep the pics coming.

As the new plants grow larger and color up I am shifting stuff around. I really have no idea how big, or bushy these plants get. Here is a couple pictures of the right side of my tank.

Everything looks to be filling in and growing like mad. Loving the variety of colors in the tank and the lushness of your plants. Nice full plants with great top and bottom growth. My plants tend to be crowded in the smaller tank so I lose some of the bottom growth.

What is the pinkish red tall plant back left 2nd picture? Looking great!

Thanks guys, this side of the tank is rockn. The other side has much smaller plants still struggling to become established.

Donna, that is Ammania Gracilis . It started from just a couple stems received from our Plant it Forward thread. It has done very well. Love the contrasting color of this plant and how the plant gradually reddens as it reaches toward the light.

I'm not running co2 but I hope the plants I got from you do well! So far the variegated is growing out of the water to the light :) And nothing had died or looked like its melting.

Nice shorty! Besides a select few plants CO2 just enhances growth. There is a thread here that I believe bronzefighter posted where his plant flowered above the surface of the water. Hopefully yours will flower as well!

That would be very awesome if it did! I'm loving the plants I got, now to just get some substrate for the 5 gallon with this next check and I can replant in the appropriate tank and get it going. Only thing left is the substrate and finding some smaller branchy manzanita driftwood. Thank you for all your help in my new planting endeavors :D

:D just winging it here. At some point ill work with color boarders and have different color/shades of plants streaking through the aquascape instead of bunches randomly ploted here and there. There isn't enough plants to do that yet really but working on it.

It's stunning. Great job growing that up.

I like how the star grass is growing in between and through this hygrohila.  It fills in the gaps while the hygro fills out. I can see many runners developing.  Even some growing up onto the wood on the left (not pictured). I am contemplating mimicking this on the other side of the wood for a balanced look. So far it's my favorite part of the new tank aquscape. The saw tooth behind it is beginning to mature and shooting out new straight stems. Soon I'll be pulling out the twisted mother stems and replanting the shoots and tops.

Looks good! The Pennywort and I forgot the name of the other large plant I got from you are out growing (literally) my 30 gallon bow front. Two shoots of the 'other' plant have emerged from the water line and the Pennywort didn't take long to grow the 5" to the surface either!
