Chocolate Cichlid

I did a 50%ish cold water change on the 220g Saturday as an experiment to a see if it would effect the aggressive behavior. It worked. They still posture with open mouths and the male does the whole body quiver but it seems more like trying to attract a mate. He allows her behind the branch where he wouldn’t at first. 926A6B6F-BD57-4176-9132-9CA5BD954DED.jpeg9C09CA4E-8D07-4574-8956-4B6A26D0CA4B.jpeg

A local hobbyist that I have dealt with in the past message me yesterday and asked if I was interested and any of his fish that were in his pond over the summer. One of those fish is a 9 to 10 in chocolate cichlid and I thought of you. He is asking 20 bucks for it. If you are interested I can put you in touch with him Screenshot_20220902-035350_Messenger.jpg

Gus friend is as much a pig as he is. She will collect so much food in her mouth she can’t chew.

Nice! The male I got was being awful to her, so I didn’t want to risk it. I’m glad you snagged her!

My male is doing well but I have a couple of smaller cichlids in my 220 that are getting rambunctious so they will be moved out fairly soon!

I think he was abusing her because they were crowded. Given space they would most likely have settled down.

Was thinking a medicated feed mixed into a gel might be good if the big guy is eating. If you need anything I believe I have Kanaplex, Focus and Metro you could do in the feed.
