What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Been a while since Ive updated about the giant gourami in the 300. Sorry no new pictures at the moment.

Ive noticed a little aggression come out but only during feeding. The clown loaches will often take the NLS Algaemax mini wafer and suck on them since they cant swallow them whole. The gourami figured out that if it chases a clown loach down there is a good possibility it will drop the pellet and it gets food, lol. I think I may need to increase feeding a bit, might not be enough food for the big guy. But it has also decided to chase the red severum too, but no food treat with that, just being super aggressive during feeding. So far no injuries and 99% of the time its well behaved...

I sold the 29 and broke down the 125 yesterday, had someone buy all the fish and plants. Wow some of those plants were monsters. Here's a collection of familiar faces I took as I started the process.


The biggest of 3 nana "petite" Anubias, all of them were 2+ feet.


All that's left running is the corner tank full of shellies.

I lift Tuesday and Thursday so I do a water change on one of those days. No gravel cleaning just drain and fill. Takes about an hour start to finish for both activities

@fishguy1978, with all my summertime projects the majority of my water changes become just drain and fills with maybe a good gravel vac every 6 weeks or so. My tank will get a little algae build up in them at these times too. I usually hate to let it get to that point but otherwise I would have no time for my other projects.

Lost my last albino hoplo last night. I haven't had good success with these with longevity. I figure this one was only about 5-6 yrs old, I would have expected longer out of a catfish. Have an opening for a bottom feeder in that tank now. Also lost a couple more Congo tetras, they totally prey upon weaker fish in the school and I need to find some more replacements that are a bit larger in size.

Just got back from Boise (week long softball tournament for daughter who took first).

All fish were good with their “fast” but super hungry.

To update tanks:

Bedroom 75g: a mean angel fish step dad gave me that I didn’t want, and my breeding colony of buffalo head cichlids ( successfully have about 13 tiny ones to go with the original 6 )

Living room 75g: 8” clown knife, 7” peacock bass, hoplo cats x 6, 5x various spiny eels

Garage 220g: Dovii X Jag hybrid 14”

Garage 180g show: 2x Oscar, flowerhorn temporarily ( 5”), 18” ornate polypterus, and fishguy1978s old rafeal catfish

Sons 180g standard: yellow / gold jardini, black angel fish, 3x spotted silver dollars, 2x wide bar red hook, true parrot cichlid, my various remaining cory cats ( maybe 10 or so).

20g #1 rio chacha max bifa
20g #2 holding tank for my female wild caught hemichromis fasciatus ( she went on the attack with the war paint over her eyes and attempted to kill everything in the Oscar tank).

Other than all that, I have found to save money I buy the frozen uncooked medium deshelled shrimp from Safeway to chop up and feed the eels, peacock bass, clown knife, and occasionally a treat for the jardini.

Way cheaper then the flat packs of frozen krill from the store.

My wife is moving to a new school ( admin) so we are swapping out the large sailfin pleco in the tank my son maintains for them for a smaller one from the house ( later day project )

I’ve had a little more free time to do fish again since I went solo about a year ago… I’ll update soon with pics.

Over the past week I’ve been consolidating stock and opening up space for new fish once budget allows.

210 display - 3 Oscars, Severum, chocolate cichlid, leopard ctenopoma, 24-28 giant danios, some other random fish; 75 sump - extremely murderous Mayan cichlid 9”

65b with 40 sump - some gouramis, kribensis, and a 3 inch p. Motagunesis that will need its own tank soon

150 starfire display - pinktail chalceus, small frontosa, hoplo, Jaguar cat; 75 sump empty

110 tall - last bichir (albino senegal); 75 sump 6 or 7 juvenile Salvini

120 + 75 sump - empty, need to reseal (10 y/o) this will be forever home for RTM

145 acrylic + 55 sump - empty, will be home for gold O. Goramy

Several 20g - krib grow out; breeding pair of kribs; breeding pair triple red apisto cacautoides; snail tank; quarantine tank; marmorkrebs tank; guppy tank

29g - low tech planted shrimp and kuhli loaches

29g - black ruby barb colony

75g - divided into breeding pair angels and breeding pair electric blue acara

60g - convicted colony

75g - tetras, rasboras, bamboo shrimp, SAE

75g + 75g linked system - 18 Exodon paradoxus in the upper tank and 14” marble goby in the lower tank

Go to Asian store and you can get super cheap frozen fish and shrimp to feed them! I go to east Asia market… silverside are like 80% cheaper
