What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Rebuilt a FX6 filter today. Been running same hoses, and aquastop valves on them for around 10+ years and the valves started leaking recently even with the trick to take them apart and lube the rings. The valves just are not meant to be rebuilt so it was time for new. I decided to do the same rebuild on the other two filters as a preventive measure and ordered all the new parts and am waiting for them to come in. I am also stocking up on spare parts for future cleanings and emergency fixing.

Still need to install my new Fluval UV but wanted to put it on a different filter which will get a full clean and rebuild as soon as the rest of my parts come in.

No water change on the two 90g tanks so that maybe this weekend I can get some filters cleaned.

Scrubbed the 300 a bit and did a gravel vac and replaced a heater. Just normal maintenance.

Email said I got my Kens order in and with it should be the rest of my filter rebuild stuff with all new hoses, valves and some gaskets. Just need to find some time to gut out another FX6 and clean & reseal it. I really need to put the new Fluval UV into the mix too.

Looking for some time to do some big filter cleanings with the Fluval's on the 300. These are such big and heavy things, that I really do dread doing them but its time for new gaskets and a good cleaning.

Still working on trying to rehome my silver dollars and change out the stock on the 300. The Roseline sharks are putting on size, I still need a couple filament barbs and the clown loaches are healthy looking and need to get moved out of the QT soon. When I start moving fish over to the 300, Im going to end up with empty tanks and will need to figure on new tenants.

Morning spent cleaning garage tanks. Cleaned 2 Aquaclear filter, scrubbed glass, gravel vac’d and water changes done.

Stopped by Pet Works to pick up 4 more filament barbs this afternoon.

My son removed the guppy grass from his growout tank and is getting it ready to replace the air pump filter with a HOB filter.

I bought some more frozen blood worms at AP yesterday and checked out their stock. They had some nice young bifa cichlids in, but alas, I don’t have a tank that will work for them.

They did have the buffalo head cichlids in, but they were really small and I was afraid they would get eaten by the syno cat I have so I only bought one to see if it would survive. If it does, I’ll probably go back and snag the rest of the colony. I think there were about 5 more.

Today I topped off some tanks and am trying to figure out long term plans for the arrowanas. The jardini will eventually go in the 180g with the more peaceful cichlids I keep, but not sure what i will do with the silver.

I still need to get back over to grab the male BN pleco from fishguy1978….. I also need to locate some larger pleco caves. I will be looking to purchase 3 of them, if I can find large ones

@lloyd378, the Aquarium Co-Op pleco cave are slightly larger than most due to the thin wall build. Most BN plecos will fit unless you have one of those freakishly large ones.

Finished cleaning garage Aquaclear filters this evening after work. Did 3 of them after work and was happy I didn’t wait a long time because they were really easy to clean up this time. I still need to get to the 300 to clean 2 big Fluval canisters. Just cant get excited about that.

Weekend water changes in garage completed and one FX6 filter completed with all new gaskets and hoses installed. Just one more to clean and that is the one I plan on adding the Fluval UV onto.

Realized last night I had not changed time on my aquarium timers, thankfully just 8 to do... lol
That is the one thing I really enjoyed with the Fluval lighting, it was Bluetooth and super easy to change on the app on your phone.

Lost a roseline last night. Looked a bit deformed in the head and gill plate area. Could not tell as a young fish but as it put on size it looked "off".
The rest of the smaller fish are looking pretty good.

Hardcore cleaning in the 300 this morning, pulled a bunch of decor to clean and tried a different technique to clean the large mopani wood. Pulled it out and hit it with my electric pressure washer and got it nice and clean without a ton of effort. Got about 3/4 of the tank looking real good now. Put a couple hours into it and it shows. This all included cleaning the inside glass including back wall and gravel line, and a good gravel vac with a big water change. Then I went outdoors for a bit and did more fall clean up a fit a bit more leaves into the yard waste bin. Kind of tired now, lol

Cross country move to MI necessitated a new stand for Alex's enclosure. Currently only have kiddos Betta and a tigrinus guppy with mates as I can't have aquariums in the new house. But I have a lot of deer here in the new backyard in Michigan :)

New job for the wife, higher pay better commute and hours. Unfortunately it was very high stress for me and I spent 36 days in a psychiatric ward after a suicide attempt in Indiana :( For loved ones sake never call 911 for a person in crisis. I was almost shot by police for "not complying" when they showed up :( Use 988 for anyone I'm crisis. Doing better now, especially with a backyard like this.

So yeah, that's where I've been. Haven't even had time to officially register as a resident here as I was released on my birthday October 30th.

@BPSabelhaus, Really good to see you back. Missed you and your updates.
Thank you, it's nice being missed lol It was a very quick thing which hit me pretty hard. We're getting into couples counseling for parents of Autistic children/ autistic people. Wife's therapist didn't help and probably contributed to a lot of the problems. Taking things day by day, but I'm a lot better after being dehumanized in that ward. I did learn that I need a female therapist. I'm much more open / comfortable around women. Made a couple friends in there, especially one with my dark humor. We made each other laugh a lot in a dark time / place.
I learned I actually have an artistic eye and will be embracing that and my feminine side a lot more. Realized I'm a two spirit that has ignored that due to cultural demands for too long. I'm definitely going to be doing more photography too.

Was noticing my largest severum is super aggressive now at feeding time. Gives chase to what is believed to be the other male and now the gourami during feeding. I put in plenty of food and even will add a little more after a little bit of feeding time to make sure there is enough. Probably is time to move these guys to a bigger tank. Would likely help with the territorial behavior on the part of the dominant sev.

I’m glad you came out of with a new perspective and purpose in life…. It’s important to not bottle these things up as they can just eat at you over time.

Take care and make sure to continue to update us on your adventures in the new state, what you decide to end up keeping ( hobby wise) and all of the great wildlife.

Will do. Its pretty cool to step out of the nice double head shower and see deer just chilling in the backyard out the window. Alex is getting a bioactive setup for her to dig, climb and hopefully munch on some plants in :) She got to chill in the badlands on the drive out :)
