I was at the Aquarium Cartel Swap Meet today and someone had what they called willlow moss. I am prone to believe it after looking at some photos. It was much bulkier and had larger leaflets than Java Moss. What I have, I had ordered it from a company that has a substitution policy which is fair enough. However, it seems they didn't label the substitution as what it actuallly was so I may have unintentionally pawned off java moss as willow moss. It is still darker and slower growing than what I already have as java moss (messy stuff this) but it doesn't look like what I saw today. It is probably a strain of java moss developed to grow slower or simply originates from another local so has slightly different characteristics.
I'm still not 100% sure of this because what I saw at the Swap Meet today was willow moss that had been harvested locally. Was the person that harvsted well enough aquainted with it? I do not know.
For that matter, the moss at the swap might have been a sphagnum so I am at a loss.
Does anyone have willow moss they are certain is what it is supposed to be?
