With the new walkway we gain a bed in the front that will need to get planted. I want to put something with a bit of height but have to be careful because of the proximity to the house, walkway and having my power lines coming in that area. There are a couple of Japanese maples of interest but finding them may be a whole different story.
First pour begins today! It will be the addition to patio in backyard and the space between the neighbors and in front of garage.
The bad news is that the temps next week being so excessive, they will wait until it cools to do the other two pours.

Still need to move a sprinkler head and add irrigation to the front bed.
Was looking forward to adding a certain Japanese maple to the newly added front bed but the adult size would get into the power line feeding the house and just dont want to take the risk. I have a max height of 10' and the tree I want can get 12' to 15'... but that is adult sized in 25 years. So do I try it and keep it pruned a bit lower so it will fit or actually put in a tree that fits right? lol, Im likely getting a red laceleaf of some sort will end up there, which will fit perfectly. Looking at the Red Dragon because I like the coloration and shape the best.

Thats why I decided against the 'Koto no ito' maple that I really wanted, it will outgrow the space, likely in a much shorter time than anticipated. Im leaning towards a red dragon at this point. That one will fit perfectly in the spot.
