What did you do with your tank(s) today?

Was looking at fish stores in the area to plan a day of going to look around and saw a couple closures. The Glass Box in Bremerton and EuroFish in Tukwilla both show as 'Permanently Closed". I updated the fish store section to reflect that.

Sad to lose private stores but the location was just too far away for me to regularly support. Living in Lakewood I go to Aquarium Paradise and PetWorks Olympia the most since they are the closest and carry the frozen Hikari foods I buy.

Looks like if I do a fish store day it will be up North to Midway in Kent, Sierra in Renton, Dennys in Kirkland, Aquarium Co-Op in Edmonds maybe the Moonlight Aquatics in Millcreek or The Fish Store in Seattle... Almost forgot Bridges in Snohomish.

During tank feeding last night I dropped in a full NLS Algaemax mini wafer and the gourami had no issues with eating them, so no need to cut the wafers in half, yay. His mouth is much bigger than it looks! He also really enjoys frozen krill. His growth is more noticeable when I compare him to his Red Sev. tankmate who now is looking smaller than the gourami. So far the gourami is still calm and chill with no killer instincts kicking in. So far so good.

Picked up this eel for my eel tank today….. sold as a tire track eel, but it’s not.

I know it’s not a zigzag, fire eel either as over all of these in my tank already… anyone know?

Google lens suggest spiny eel, but I’m pretty sure they are all considered spiny eels.doesn’t look like a peacock eel either as those only have the spots on the tail.IMG_4170.jpeg

Was going out last night to have dinner with friends and I always had this feeling like I was close to @lloyd378, sure enough it was only 2 miles away. So I was able to stop by and drop off a bucket of gravel and check out some fish. Will say that the jag/dovii hybrid is an awesome fish, absolutely gorgeous color and feisty personality. Got to see my old oscar and was surprised at how it changed color. Even though on a fairly light substrate, it went to a dark pattern. It was happy with its tankmates and doing well. I really liked the 75g community tank which had my favorite catfish, hoplos. Also some really nice eels. Was nice catching up with you @lloyd378 and getting to see your tanks. Remember to post some pics when you get that hex set up.

Nevermind dmd, I just checked a regular knowledgable website and it is definitely that eel as they reach over 20” so the AI was wrong…

Thanks for the info! I’ll also get some pics up of my fish

Placed an order for a few more new Aquaclear parts. Ordered the final new style intake tube and strainer I needed and 3 of the new style u-tubes. Love the look and ease of cleaning the new strainer tubes. Going to try these new u-tubes to see if they really do help with the whole prime and anti-siphon thing. Had not really paid attention to see if this made a difference between my new Aquaclear and the old but I can say that the new style u-tube is easier to clean since it doesn't have hard 90's in it.

Was kind of interesting to see two of the mid sized clown loaches going at it and lip locking. I guess this is a normal part of the hierarchy with them. Had not seen this behavior until now, and as fast as it happened it seemed to be done with. The loaches also will make clicking noises at times which is weird when your just sitting and watching TV and you hear these random odd clicks, lol.

Was thinking of taking a half day off work on Friday and check out a couple fish stores up north to see if I can figure out something to put in my 65B or 40B tanks.

On my half day off work I stopped by Midway and Sierra and got to see my leopard bush fish at both stores but just due to its shyness and the lack of pattern on them I just couldn’t pull the trigger and get one. Had seriously considered a blood parrot of all things just because of the color and personality. Ever since going with fancy goldfish, I havent really despised blood parrot or flowerhorns… ugh what has happened to me? lol

Not a blood parrot person at all, but honestly saw the coolest looking ones online a few days ago on Facebook called tiger blood parrots.

The are the standard reddish orange or a unique yellow one with tiger stripes

Midway had one of what they called a “yellow tiger” in stock but it was just yellow with no black banding or stripes. I like the look of the king kong red mammon the best, can look like a mini midas. But those are very high priced. Saw some blue polar parrots recently that might work out well since they are HRP/convict based so would stay smaller

My son and I ran to Kirkland to purchase a yellow jardini arrowana ( just a baby) for my son to growout and possibly keep long term. He used his birthday money and couldn’t be happier!

I have not seen a yellow colored jardini since probably 1999 when I bought the rare color variant from a little local petstore in Yakima, wa!

Everyone I’ve ever owned since has had more of the giant danio colors…..

Thanks to Dmd for the gravel and fishguy1978 for the filter. The 60gallon is a functioning habitat for the jardini!

We met at dennys petworld and honestly, I haven’t been there in close to 15 years and was a bit disappointed in the fish room….. tanks had debris floating around in them ( not clean) and it just felt like the one worker was struggling to help the number of customers in the section.

I will say the guy working in the fish room was very friendly and really knew the fish that he had in there. I did find it strange that next to the fish names, some of their fish had nicknames as if they had been for sale for a while.

It is a local fish store so I did support it buy buying a backup filter and some additional prime for the house.
