Of the 12 originally captured from disgusting water, I have 8 looking nice and healthy now. Clean water with tannins and a lot of good food helps I guess lol So paranoid about doing water changes on that tank still. Just filter cleaning and topping off with water from the live culture tubs. I want them to get a bit bigger before I start disturbing them. Eventually I'll probably move them into the 30 I keep about 1/3 full for a shallow long tank. Currently have the goldfish babies in there.

Did you know that 3-spine sticklebacks are an important model system for research into questions such as parallel evolution, quantitative trait analysis, and the genomic basis of complex phenotypes? One of my former colleagues at the Hutchinson Cancer Center used sticklebacks extensively in her scientific research.

Probably better researched than guppies at this point. When the time comes, breeding info is readily available but I always love more resources They need some growing up time and frankly my research time slots are already booked in advance lol All this fish breeding and research is to help me understand human genetic and neurological adaptations.

Getting big and now with juvenile chubs. Couple feedings of live food every day does that I guess lol

I remember keeping some of these as a kid. They always reminded me of a scaled down version of a large saltwater fish like a tuna
