@lloyd378 had official first review:

"Update: store recently reopened and now they are fully stocked…..with that said, they still have room to expand ( African cichlids and large tanks if they want).

Overall Experience 5
Cost 5
Quality of Fish 5
Variety 5
Service 5

Staff was super helpful, great selection of fish, They had a few rarer types of fish, some beautiful koi betta, cheap tanks, and excellent prices.

I’d say their prices are equal to petsmart , but the tanks were healthy and clean. Highly recommend people swing by.

The new location is right inside the Buckley limits. The store sits right behind the shell gas station on the left as you enter town."

You guys are lucky to have all these places nearby; it seems like they're all ~90 minutes from my place. And given the fact that the likelihood of their having any of the fishes I keep is virtually nil, there doesn't seem much point in making the drive, even though I miss the 'window shopping.' I guess the last time I visited a fish store with any regularity was to go to Kevin's place in Burien, but that was quite a while ago.

I agree with that for you.

The best “African” fish section is at aquarium paradise, and unfortunately for you, they rarely carry any lake tanganyika cichlids . Though about a month ago I did noticed a large group of trophus spread out amongst a number of tanks ( multiple species , but seemed like only one or two per type). I’m guessing a local hobbyist had a mismatched collection of adults and decided to go another direction.

I used to sell lots of Tropheus to Kevin back in the day, but primarily just one or two types.

Finally got a chance to stop in, was a bit back off the road and hard to see little sign from way back but we found it.

They had two huge Raphael cats, pretty cheap too if I remember correctly, believe they were $39.99. Also in same tank some pretty big clown loaches for $69.99. Really felt the price was good on these large fish. Had quite a few 5” silver arowana, axolotl and the typical bred and butter fish you expect. Felt like everything was pretty reasonable in cost.

I ended up buying a large bag of XL Hikari Vibra-Bites sticks for $19.99. Seemed like good price for the 415g bag since they are $42 at Amazon. Granted had just expired but I feel still good with the way they are sealed in the foil bags.

We were greeted upon entry and I was asked by multiple employees if I needed help. Great customer service. Still the place to go for big tanks that are in stock ready to pick up. Glad that part stayed the same. The building itself still seems like a work in progress with a lot of areas not quite “finished” but overall worth a visit.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear they’re open again! I miss the old store with the huge fire eels… maybe this one will develop that old school LFS feel again. I will definitely check them out soon.

Friendly staff, received greeting right away and was asked if I needed help after I had time to look a little bit. I ended up getting 3 BIG clown loaches around the 5" size for $69.99 each which is the price Wet Spot was selling their big ones for also. The 2" ones were thick looking and were only $16.99 which also was a good price. These were bigger than the ones at Aquarium Paradise that were priced at $19.99 and comparable in size or bigger than the ones at Wet Spot for $24.99. Very well priced for these 'common' fish.

This was the largest of the loaches I picked up with a unique spot marking on it.

I went up on Small Business Saturday and picked up 3 more Roseline sharks. They were having 30% off sale on the fish. Over the years of shopping here Ive come to appreciate the way they do business, buying in bulk to keep prices down. This has proven true on fish tanks and fish themselves. As an example I noticed they had electric blue acara for $9.99, these same fish are $19.99 at Petsmart. Difference is that petsmart had one in stock, Buckley had a couple dozen. I wish I would have waited and got all my Roselines here instead of Wet Spot. They were bigger and better priced even before the sale. The big clown loaches I got last time were the same price as Wet Spot too. But those I am happy to have got in Portland due to the unique patterned ones I found there.

Edit: I think I saw a sign up on there door saying they were going to be open on Sundays. I think it was like 11 to 5 if I remember correctly. Not sure if its permanent or just holiday season. Likely good idea to call before heading up.

Stopped in on Sunday afternoon and there were a few people in the store but I was greeted by the two different people on the sales floor and asked more than once if I need help. My wife who came in with me seperated to look at different things and shee too got greeted and asked if she needed help. very happy with the friendliness of the staff there. Found a bag of Hikari pellets on sale. likely nearing or past date but really no issue with how fast I go through the food (In my opinion since it is an air tight foil bag to boot). Also bought a polar parrot to put in my 40B, was a bit higher priced than the big box stores but the selection of fish was much higher with dozens to choose from. Another great experience!

My son and I ran up Sunday too….

I grabbed a piece of wood with a cave like structure in it for the eels and inquired about the jardinis again… I head up there about once a month to ask.

Overall experience: 4.5 ( 5 but they still haven’t sold their silver arrowanas so I can’t get a jardini)
Cost: 5 ( fish are well priced for the health of them)
Quality of fish: 5
Variety: 4. ( not much in the cichlid selection, but great oddball style fish).
Service: 5

Yeah, they do have a few oddballs, this time a tank full of "baby whale" and butterfly fish, other times things like tire track eels, axolotl
