Shrimp enthusiast on Vashon Island

Hi there,

I'm a new member to this community.

My main interest is freshwater shrimp. I breed several color morphs of Neocaridina and a few other species. I sell to individuals and stores.

I also dig dwarf cichlids. I'm pretty well versed on Lake Tang shellies and am moving more into exploring apistos now that I've run out of African dwarfs.

All of my tanks are planted, even the breeding tanks.

It is very interesting to have lived in Seattle proper with soft water until very recently moving to Vashon Island with hard water. It is like a new hobby again.

Here is a nice little video of my Blue Velvet Neocaridina breeding tank to give you a sense of how I aquascape. Because all of my tanks are in my one room cabin in the woods, all of them are essentially show tanks so everything is kept planted and pleasant to look at.

My other interests are vernal ponds, tide pools, most animals, plants and fungus, entrepreneurship, fine art, contemporary dance, survivalism/readiness, and meditation.

Thanks in advance for all of the good experience and know-how ya'll will share with me.

Nice to meet you.

Gosh, I didn't realize I already knew so many people over here. Feels like showing up at a party with a bunch of friends already there. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome, Shango! Vashon! Wow, I've only been there once :) It's a really nice place! Glad to hear that there's another shrimp enthusiast on our board :D

I have a couple Red Cherry Shrimp, Malawa Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, and Ghost Shrimp (typical ones bought from petsmart)... I'm still rather new to the shrimp keeping thing, but it's really fun!

Sucks you missed the meeting. At least the guy that I sold some CRS to was super excited about getting them up and breeding!
