Hopefully this summer ill be putting in a 1000 gallon custom home made concrete pond for my red tail cat. Any suggestions? Anyone attempt this before?

Agreed with all above.  Very good info, keep it coming.  Im thinking of installing a 900 gal above ground pond.  Im sure there wont be as much of an issue with this but you never know.  8000 lbs in a 10' round area is a ton (4 tons actually) of weight.
Did either of you guys end up putting in a pond last summer? We talked about it but I never got around to it. I spent the whole summer putting in lawn & landscaping. I keep day dreaming about it & and have a nice place in my yard waiting for me to start digging... Maybe this coming summer for me!

Well if your interested in really building this pond let me kno I have built a few over the last few years and it just depends on what you want and what shape you want and all that jazz. So let me kno and I can come out and take a look at th spot were you want it and we can go from there and if I were you id startI it by the end of feb. Early march. Oh and I would charge you anything close to way any of these guys charge to do it.

Nice I appreciate the offer & may take you up on it. For the most part I am a DIY kind of guy with simi adult children. So muscle power isn't an issue for digging ;)

But your insight is invaluable . When it comes time I am sure I will start up this thread with questions and progress of the build. So I hope you jump in and add your knowledge !
