Oh No! A new Aquaclear...

I would like to see a change to the hard plastic case. Maybe more the type of plastic used on the Marineland penguin filters. Also like the idea of an all black case an oppose to the clearish/smoked case. How about an even BIGGER and BADDER Aquaclear 110? lol

Will be interesting to see what the changes there are and maybe it might be time to stock up on old Aquaclears too.

Nah, we're all just going to wait for you to try out one of the new units and let us know what you think. :D

Not really; all you can see is the box. It looks like it might be narrower, front to back, which would be nice if the volume is the same, but it's really hard to tell. In any event, I'm in no hurry to replace the ten well-worn AC110's in my fishroom.

Looks like some cosmetic changes to the case... interested in the change in the intake tube where it goes into the impeller. Might be easier to clean if it is indeed rounded inside like it appears to be.

Instructions: https://fluvalaquatics.com/manuals/19620_Quick Start Guide_NA.pdf

Looking at instructions, you can still adjust the flow rate by moving the intake 'U' tube. The AC110 does not look like its much more than a cosmetic upgrade. Not seeing if motor is more powerful or any changes that way

I was looking around to see if anyone actually had the new Aquaclear filters in stock and then it caught my eye of a difference, I had mostly focused on the AC110 which really did not change as much as expected. But on the AC70 and below the change is in the "media basket" with a partial partition in place to hold the carbon and bio-media differently.

I am contemplating one of the new AC110's to try because my 65B tanks are really tight getting the filter out. The new rounded top may make it easier for me to remove the filter when necessary as opposed to the old square design.

I finally saw a review that talked about the case material on the new Aquaclear 110. They mentioned that it was not as rigid or hard like the old cases. In fact the flex in the case seemed like it would take a lot for it to crack. The slope to the "U" intake tube seemed to be a great feature but no one really showed if that made a difference in the priming or anything. Might still buy one in the near future for some upcoming changes to the fishroom.

So a new Aquaclear 110 in the house. Got it set up last night and it really looks identical in so many ways that I would say its really not worth 'upgrading' from an older unit. My understanding is that the he new lid was supposed to help with the rattle problems. I will see how that one goes but it interchanged onto the older body just fine, in fact pretty much all the parts were interchangeable.

I did like the redesigned intake tubes. The bottom is so much better in design and the extension tube is a real extension not just two intakes stacked together. The strainer portion feels strong, not like its going to break like the older design. I did not use the prefilter sponge .

The redesigned U-tube seemed quieter when in was starting up for the first time. I guess its supposed to help with the priming. It will be easier to clean, that's for sure, since the sharp corners inside are gone.

I definitely would like to see the new replacement strainers come out soon because that I would replace on all my old Aquaclears. But otherwise its the same old filter with just a few minor tweak's

30% price increase for the new model; ouch!
I had a $100 Petsmart gift card so it wasnt a real issue with price this time around. If it was my own money I would have likely looked for a used one.

Love the look of the new intakes and extensions so I have bought 4 sets and installed them as Ive been cleaning filters.

Kind of an interesting observation but the new strainer tubes seems like it has a higher flow rate to the point that there is not enough back pressure for the water to make it up the old style u-tube easily. This has been with a reduced tank water level where the old setup would have worked better. I think this is specifically designed this way since the strainer has the pre-filter sponge and new design of u-tube to be able to help.

Kind of hard to explain but I see the need to replace to the new u-tubes when they become available. If there is a power outage, Im not sure if the units will be able to prime… seems that once siphon is lost, it is extremely difficult for new intakes on old u-tubes to work well.

As I cleaned the new style Aquaclear 110 recently, I did notice that the little leveler was built better than the old type. I have two I need to replace due to them bending and I would love to get the new style but have not seen this replacement part available just yet.

Ordered two more intake tubes and extension tubes to replace on my goldfish tank. That just leaves one tank still with the old style. The new style not only looks better but is much easier to clean.

Needed to replace one of my levelers for the Aquaclear 110. The new style seems thicker and a tighter fit.

New style on the left, old on the right
