need 16 gal stocking ideas

Hello aquarium homies,

I am bored with my 16 gal community tank. As of now I have 1 catfish, 3 gouramis, a few tetras and some rasboras. Anyways I want to move all these fish, except maybe the cat to my 55 gal planted tank. This leaves me with a 16 gal empty canvas to create something new with.
I appreciate all of your ideas for substrate, plants, fish, the whole works. You will see what I have in my 55 gal below, so I would like to do something different from this set up. your thoughts ideas are appreciated. As far as equipment the 16 gallon is a bow front, with a stock aqueon filter. I have another extra filter if neccesary.

Is this tank to small for Cichlids?

Perfect tank for a small group of African Cichlids. Specifically Shell Dwellers, they stay smallish and are cool as hell. Look up---Lamprologus Brevis, Lamprologus Speciosus, These are my favorites, and the ones I keep and Breed. Lamprologus Occelatus is also cool.

ive got multies and ocellatus myself. love em. a pair would work out great in a tank that size.
