Don’t take this the wrong way, but this is your first fancy goldfish that I think is cool looking.

I like the colors on this one and also like its shape more than the others as this one looks like a more normalized body shape to me.
lol, absolutely no offense taken. I had been wanting this 'tiger' type for a while and was happy to finally have found one I could afford. Out of all my fish I feel my long fin rosetail oranda is the most 'normal' looking in that it is what people expect in a fancy goldfish, the rest of my likes tend to be toward the shorter, tall bodied fish. This would be all my Yuanbao and Shogun ornadas.

Busy day for the goldfish. Cleaned one of the Aquaclear 110's on the 90 gallon and moved the two lionchu out into the 65B. Then moved the panda Yuanbao oranda into the 90 gallon. Also did a water change on the 20H qt tank where the Calico/Tiger Yaunbao oranda is.

The goldies in the 65B

Figure this is probably a good place. It goes into the genetics / connection between dorsal less and double fin genetics. Helps explain the why of all the drama lol Pretty cool the genes and connections are getting mapped out finally.
It also has two headed goldfish (fry) for those interested lol

A bit of an update, been a bit on these tanks. Have dealt with a couple mystery deaths in what have been seemingly very healthy acting fish. They have showed no distress or visible signs of anything wrong and have been eating like champs up until their deaths. The deaths have occurred both time at night with me finding a dead fish in the morning.

Lost this one first a few weeks back

Then last night I lost the calico tiger

At this point Im done purchasing any more replacement fish. I will keep the existing fish until they grow old (IF THEY DO), but if I lose any more it may come down to me condensing all the goldfish into just the one tank instead of two. The orandas, especially these "Yuanbao" seem like the compact body does show up with some swimming issues but I feed them the smaller sinking pellets with one that is very specific to prevent any bloat or swim bladder issues. A very high percentage of their diet is NLS foods. Dealing with these highly line bred, man made fish that are basically ticking time bombs has made me rethink keeping them, or at least adding or replacing any more.

Have not updated this in a while. More a written one than with pictures.

After the loss of a few goldies due to mystery deaths, I decided not to get any more and combine remaining fish to a single 90g. The fish in there have done well with no more death or health issues.

The fish have made some noticeable changes with my black and white panda turning almost completely black with some brassy tones underneath. My milk cow ranchu has also lost all its black patches so no longer has "cow" like appearance. A lionchu developed a small sac behind its eye like a bubble eye goldfish, kind of weird...

I know, next step is some new pics

Not sure what happened but I assume my 'Milk cow' ranchu had got its head stuck in the large gap between the Universal Rocks decor and forced itself out. Its wen or the puffy parts around it head were raw and torn up and it was completely missing an eye and swimming erratically. I could tell the poor thing was in distress and I ended up putting it down. It was the smallest of the goldfish and The only thing I can figure is it had a bad interaction with the decor. Was sad but I didnt want the fish to suffer.

So Im down to 5 fancy goldfish. Its been a bit of an eye opener keeping what many believe to be 'simple', 'beginner' fish. When you get these fancy type goldfish they come with their own set of problems. Its also interesting to see the color changes these fish have went through and how much they have changes. Still like the fish but what you see is not what you get long term.
