 Here is an idea about the whole issue of sand and clean up that we have been taking about.

The pleco poop out of control, right? So get rid of the giant, monster pleco. In fact do not get another one. Instead focus on a group of fish that would help you with clean up. Fish that like to root around in sand. Geos, eartheaters, robertsoni, firemouth, get the idea? Many of these fish are mild enough to get along with your Oscars yet big enough not to get ate.

I have two right now. A gibby that is about 3" and a sunshine around 6-7". The gibby will most likely go due to potential size involved. The other is beautiful but always hides so it too might go...

I think the barrel length has something to do with my problem. Once I figure it out things will be easier. I have an extra barrel I could cut or I could buy a shorter vacuum.

I dont mean to sound like an ass, but seriously. Everything you have been asking or complaining about is common sense. Algae, reach your arm into the tank and clean it, or purchase a scrubbing brush with a long handle. Vacuum, it doesnt matter. Fish poop and very little of it gets sucked up by the filters. Regardless of what type you have. If the vac tube is to long, than take a hack saw and cut it in half. Or take the tube off and just use the hose. Move the hose around the tank to pick up the large crap and then put the tube back on and clean the gravel.

Its not rocket science. I am sorry if I sound harsh, but should you be keeping fish? Everything you ask is basic common sense, and it seems like when you hear an answer you just keep asking the same question, but in a different way. And p.ming several different people hoping to get an answer you like is not helping. The pleco shits, big deal, your freaking Oscars shit more than the pleco guaranteed. If you are to lazy to figure out a way or to listen to the help provided, then get out of the hobby.

Just like the other tank you had. You got tons of advise and that topic went on for months. Then you just up and buy a brand new tank and say the hell with that other one. This hobby is not easy, and it is not for lazy people. That other tank of yours I would have had cleaned, and filled with fish in it in less than a week.

I hope you take this to heart. Asking questions is one thing, asking dumb questions is another, asking the same dumb questions and, :wall:

Lazy are you serious? I clean my tank every three day’s and spend about two hours cleaning. I’m trying to find ways to clean right above the sand without scratching up the tank. My gravel vac used to pick up the pleco poop just fine in the 55 gallon but won’t in the 210. You really have me pissed. I won’t be asking you for help anymore. Do me a favor and stay the hell out of my topics. :swear:

Thank you.

Today was not a good day for me, and I have a lot of anger in me. I responded earlier out of frustration and anger. So if I came across as being a d***, I apologize. But what I said, is very truthful. Think before you ask, I am sure you can think of many different ways to accomplish what you ask. As for what I posted that pissed you off, there was several ideas in there that will fix, help, or solve all of your latest questions. Its not ........................................................ :)

And as how a new friend put it, "this is a public forum, and I can post where I wish. If you dont like what is said, than dont put yourself out there for everyone to see." If your going post it, expect to get criticism from time to time.

You should visit MFK, I think you and oscaroo, aquamonster, hellman, bayarea, clownnife would all get along real well. :)

I'm on MFK. This is where I will post my topics for now on. I come on here to get advice from people who know what they are talking about. Me and DMD took our conversations in our pm's to this topic. It looks like it pissed you off. I thought using the magfloat was the right thing to do and look where it got me. I know oscaroo on mfk and he asks the same things over and over. So here's another one of your smart ass comments. You know how to really get people fired up. I don’t feel like I asked things over and over again. I can get advice from other people then you.

What's wrong with buying a new tank? The 210 I bought was a saltwater tank and I was using it as freshwater. I thought I would be able to get it clean and wasn't. So I bought a new one big freaking deal. Most people with large fish put them in small tanks. I went and spent 1200 on a large tank for my oscar's so they would live a happy life. I thought it was the right thing to do. You may not care if your tank's look like shit but I do. After spending alot of money I want to keep my tank nice.

LOL, your "new friend." See Shawn, we all have our days when we come off as dicks. ;) Sorry about your situation BTW.

OP, I use mag floats. I just use them very carefully, cleaning them before every use. My arms aren't long enough to clean a 24" tall tank without a lot of strain on my back (which I have problems with).

I have a tall tank to. Mine is 29 inches tall and when I need to reach to the bottom it's difficult. I started using a tooth brush to clean the mag float off before using it. So far so good. I plan on buying a tool that can move the sand away from the glass so I can clean all the way to the bottom. It will probably just be a play sand shovel. It would be nice if I didn't have to move the sand but I guess you got to do what you got to do.

There is a very easy solution. You need longer arms!

Simply wear these and over the course of a few years the weight should naturally lengthen you arms.
