Loooooooooong Tanks

Hello! Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far! (As good as a Monday can get...)

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions on sourcing a 'long' tank, specifically a 33 or 40 gallon. I see them on the Aqueon site, and they only have a list of 'certified dealers' that never have any in stock.

Does anyone have any places they suggest to look or a way to source these tank? Or, is it a sort of 'hit or miss' type of deal per shop? And I'll always assume that I should be on the CL hunt :cyclops:

I'm really in to my Cory's in my community tank, and we love to home a nice big group of them in a long tank so they can't be disturbed by anyone else!

Hi! Your best bet would probably to check some of your smaller LFS. I saw that Cory at the Co-op had 20g(?) long hanging out there on Saturday. I know that both Bridges in Snohomish and Jones in Marysville have a huge selection of tanks.

Cory at the Co-op has said in a different thread he can get those awesome 33 longs in.

Denny's said the same thing, not popular enough to keep in stock for some crazy reason, but can order them in. I can't remember the last time I've seen one in stock in a LFS.

Hi Dinner.
Which Corys are you keeping? Would you happen to have any c. loxostomas? If so where did you get them?
Currently I have Pandas. Not sure what the c. loxostomas are, but I got these little guys from Midway.

PETsMART had a 40 long when I went in a week ago.
Awesome! This was going to be one of my assumptions that they're hit or miss from store to store. Maybe I'll swing in a few local big boxes to see what they have in inventory.

Oh! That would be so awesome. I see him posting all the time and I'm sure he'll chime in eventually. Being on email/web all day, what would be the best way to contact him - pm or email?

Long tanks are not a very popular tank in general. Any LFS can get any size tank from their REPS. If they refuse, or tell you they can not get what you want they are being lazy. Every LFS has product catalogs they can look through. The same is for particular fish you might be looking for. In general LFS carry & display what they sale most of but they also have a list of stock their suppliers have. So, if you go into a LFS looking for a particular species you could go as far as to ask to double check their suppliers list. Again, if they refuse to do so then either they are being lazy or are just unwilling to order in special stuff. My favorite LFS has since closed down but so far Aquarium Co-Op has been awesome about researching and bring in any special order I have asked for. APFP is another LFS that has searched, found, and special ordered equipment and fish for me. Its been a while since I've been there & has since went through changes but they might still do special favor's as such...

You might give A Place for Pets a call.  We were just there the day of the last GSAS auction.  Their upstairs is filled with lots of tanks.  They had a rimless cube...looked to be 2x2x2...might have been 2.5x2.5 not sure...beautiful tank for just over $100.  Not long but unique.  Good luck in your search.
