Super cool silver dollars, but I'm confused about all the interest in genders. This isn't a breeding group, is it? Or is there some other reason I don't know about?

With this variety the males can develop very cool 'sail fin' trailers on their dorsal fins which one has developed already. I actually have been surprised by the development of these fish with two clearly showing as males from the outset but then two others took much longer to show as males. So I believe there are a total of 4 males and 4 females. Hope is that all the males will develop the sail fin characteristic. But with the different hook shapes, head shapes and a big lack of information on the setiger silver dollars in general, I question if these are all actually 'Setiger'. Though they all have a very cool pinkish red color coming in which does make them seem as if the same variety.

Ending this thread with the sale of my silver dollars...

They were quite a sight and the males of this species were spectacular with a lovely pinkish/red hue to the body and the cool trailers on the dorsal fin. I was actually quite surprised how bad these fish were with fin nipping with my giant pearsei having large chunks out of its side fins, dorsal and tail. They were also extremely skittish and I feel like this is what led to the death of my large bala shark. They spooked him and he went head first into the glass. That bala was the calmest I had ever seen and the biggest one in person I had seen. Saw a few in pictures (usually dead) that did get bigger.

While they had quite the presence when they schooled in the 8' tank I will not miss the mad dashing of the silver dollars when I walked by the tank. I replaced them with filament barbs which so far have proven to be very brave, food driven fish that just do not care if I walk by the tank. Hopefully that stays the case.
