How To Curb Fry Population

Hey BOX members!

My African tank is having a fry population explosion. I had it under control (bought a bichir who ate the fry, but now he's more into pellets than fish).

Can't sell the fry as they are HYBRIDS. Had a red zebra that crossed with kenyi. I sold the zebra, but had a few "youngins" from the batch. Now they are breeding, producing SUPER hybrids. The adult fish look awesome and want to keep them, but don't want the hassle of dealing with hybrid fry.

Are there any other fish that can live along with Africans, but will eat the fry? Any fish suggestion would be appreciated!

This is my main African tank (100 gal) It's housing my biggest fish, I just don't think they are that aggressive.

Any fish that maxing out around 8 inches, can live with Africans, but has an attitude to eat fry would be great!

Was thinking eel, but they get huge from what I hear!

what about a raphael catfish... they are nocturnal so you never really even know they are there, and they will eat anything that will fit in there mouth. and very cheap to get also.

I would do pictus over raphel...way more active

Do you have pucs of the super hybrids? I've had an eel before small fish did dissappear. Sorry that's all I got.

I use Synodontis species for fry control in my African tanks.

Might also steal a raphael from my brother, he has 2x 6 inchers.

i have 2 6" and there worthless ... the pictus will be a better bet... there very active... check wallmart.. there only 4.99 there not 8.99 like everywhere else.. and yes i got mine from there and there doing ok

Thats kind of suprising because I was going to try and house 2 different age batches of peacocks but the ones that were a month older ate one of them right off the bat.

my Synodontis eupterus used to eat all my african babys when i kept them, now he eats all my severum babys / eggs. the grim reeper of all my fry and eggs.
