My horrible impulsiveness sometimes gets the better of me. This time..it got me a 75 gallon reef. I got a tank, picking up a stand and a sump and a skimmer and a light and some substrate and some rock..what have I done?

I need some suggestions on skimmer and sump set up mostly.

You've become an addict. Once you get started you get hooked every time. Take this one slow and enjoy.

send me pictures of what you have for a sump and skimmer. They are easy to set up.

right now, all I have is a tank. I will be buying all the other items in a few weeks, taking this one slow, setting it up and making it awesome (because that's what I do).

I will be hunting sumps on CL soon, as well as a skimmer. Once the 75 is established, I will transfer the life in the 25 to it and go from there.

I will then be selling the 25 setup.

Someone will get a banging deal..lol

Just wanted to elaborate. When ever you get a new fish, you want to observe it first in a QT(quarantine tank) before putting it in your DT(display tank) Most common disease of fish is Ick. If you introduce a fish with ick into your DT, you have to remove all fish from the DT, put them in a QT for treatment for upwards 12 weeks to make sure the eggs in the DT have hatched and died and the life cycle of the ick is over. Then introduce them slowly back into your DT. Some treatments will kill corals and invertebrates.

There are a number of reasons to keep a QT/Hospital tank. Initial treatment for parasites and worms before introducing the new fish to your DT. It is better than loosing all your fish.

Your QT should be bare. No rock, no inverts, just a 3" or so short piece of white pvc for the fish to hide in. I suppose a plastic plant or something wouldnt hurt. It may at some time be used with copper treatment and once it has been exposed to copper it can only be used as a QT/Hospital tank for fish. Including the filter system and any equipment exposed to the copper.

Or like what I did .I picked a 20g sw the other day because it was to cheap to pick it up and I am going to take my corals out of my 75 and put the in the 20g and make the 75 a fish only tank.So that I can put the more flashy fish that are not coral in my 75g
