Hello all,

I just started a 29G late last month. I haven't had a tank in years and it has been a blast getting back into it.

Here is the tank:

29G (30" X 12" X 18") tank

Marineland C-220 w/o carbon

100w heater

Current USA satellite + 24"-36" - Marineland 21" hidden LED (should be somewhere at 35+ par with both of those on.

Hardscape and substrate:
Flagstone
Seachem flourite (red)

Dosing EL and Macro/micro ferts

Currently working on an arduino based controller for the entire tank. So far only the lighting and some sensors are controlled. I am waiting on some dosing pumps and a few relays to arrive for the rest.

Flora:
list is short as I am still learning
2x Amazon Sword
3x java fern
Dwarf hairgrass

Fauna:
10 Harlequin Rasbora
2 Mollies + 13 fry
5 Red Cherry Shrimp

Tank parameters as of 1/14/14:
80 degrees
Ammo 0ppm
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 10ppm

As this is my first Planted tank, I am still learning quite a bit.

Picture time!

I will hopefully be rehoming the mollies. I bought them off some poor LFS advice and would like to go a different route with the tank. I'm still undecided right now.

Welcome to the box!!! :D And way to go on the tank! I love schools of harlequins, they are so underappreciated! Looking forward to some updates on progress! Hope the hairgrass takes over that tank floor!

As for the mollies, I would give it some time. RCS are always hiding and if you provide them enough planted space to hide, they may survive longer.

The tetras will eat the shrimp as well, granted they are midswimmers and platys peck at things... Either way, you could just get a bunch of Java moss and call it good, they will breed and hide in there to keep their numbers up.

Welcome to the forum!
