Hello all! Can't believe I haven't stumbled onto this forum since I moved here almost 4 years ago. Nice to see so many fish/aquarium enthusiasts in the area.

I jokingly call my apt "Fife aquarium" since I've got 7 tanks running, plus a couple betta bowls, and mini indoor GF pond. Water changes - AARGH! I think I need to downsize by at least a couple tanks to make em more manageable (but so hard to do!) Fancy goldfish are my faves, so I've got a couple tanks dedicated to them. Others include a planted platy tank with some dwarf cories and a peacock gudgeon; 75g rainbowfish/community tank (mix of tetras/cories/barbs); a green/blue texas cichlid with his catfish "buddy"; and a half-blind EBJD. The EBJD had a bad case of popeye and when it finally went back to normal, i realized he couldn't see out of it. Food will literally fall on that side of his face and he'd totally miss it.

I know this is mostly a cichlid-lover forum... I find them attractive but for some reason I'm just not as into them. Plus I like the bigger ones which of course demand a larger tank that I'm not able to provide. By older bro kept a flowerhorn pair and seeing his tank is actually what ignited the spark in me to keep fish. Before that, I just considered them house decor that happened to be alive, lol!

I'm torn on whether i should keep the cichlids... I kinda wanna see them grow larger, but I know I need to get em into bigger tanks. Until I get my own house though, I'm delaying getting any more big tanks. I also wanna try my hand at saltwater eventually...ugh, I just need more room!

Hey man welcome to the box
I want to see this mini pond you have in your apt do you have any pictures?
Not right now, at least not in its current state... it prolly sounds nicer than it really is lol. It's just a really big round tub with some small water lettuce floating on top. I tried bringing in some other pond plants but they just weren't getting enough sunlight during the winter. Can't wait to have a real outdoor pond though.

Will post some pics up soon though, love seeing others tanks/setups/fish and it's only fair to share mine as well.

Thanks for the welcome everyone... @DMD - sorry, can't claim the fish in my avatar as my own. Love lionheads/ranchus, but the last couple i had didn't live for very long. Saw a nice looking one today at one of the stores in Tacoma, but it kinda looked like it had the beginnings of dropsy and didn't wanna take that risk.

Welcome, and +1 on the cool avi!

Not everyone is obsessed with giant cichlids, I have little dwarf apistos lol :D There's a lot of interesting stuff on here for all kinds of fish... so welcome!

Welcome fellow goldfish lover. Being that we're the only two people on this forum who like them I have a feeling we'll have a lot to talk about :D
