Can anyone guess what size he is??? (I already know, about yay long==> :laughhard: ) FYI this quarentine tank is 12" front to back for size reference...

Tomorrow he graduates this QT tank and moves into his own 120 gallon solo tank.

:affraid: Wow, he is a big boy. You see profiles written about fish reaching certain sizes and you kind of think that its kind of a joke (like a 24" jag). Maybe in nature they reach those lengths... but every now and then you see a monster that makes you think that they were right about the size.

That fish looks to be 15-16" if I were to guess.

He's gotta be pushing 16", I think hes not too deformed , cause he's just in quaranteen, not growing up in there.

im gonna say 11" cause he doesnt look deformed as a 15" fish would get in a 12" tank. brute for sure
Awe come on bro I wouldn't ever keep a fish this size in a 12" tank! If I saw this guy in a 12" tank at someone house they would get the old :ibox: He was only in quarenteen. He has a solo 120 gallon to himself to live out his days happy, I moved him last night. He was a rescue and one hell of one at that!

ps - no one has guessed his size yet, he is 12" (technically 13" but I round down) snout to caudal tip. It funny how fish can seem so much larger in pics.

Oh no worries I knew what you meant bro. Thanks for the comments on my tanks! The previous owner had him for 6 years and raised him his whole life in a 80 gallon on earthworms and hikari, he was very well cared for. The guy was having a kid so his tanks had to go. His tank was the RTM pairs tank so I have to build a new tank for them now so I will have two builds going on this year. Good times..!

Thanks for al the comments on this guy everyone! I'm just glad he didn't end up in some kids 55 gallon.

It's cool that you picked him up as a rescue. One of the nicest looking Midas I've seen for sure. Totally agree with you on this fish potentially ending up in someone's 55g if you hadn't picked up. What a sexy looking brute!

Thanks guys! I'll get some updated pics and vids of him up soon now that he is all settled. I have a friend with a DSLR coming over tomorrow to get some better shots. Here is a decent one I took the other day with my P&S:
