So I got bored of the way my display tank was looking so I decided to change it up a little. First pic is the way it was. Second is now. The only plants in the tank now are crypt lutea. I may fill the branches with anubius nana petite, but we will see. Btw I know I need to paint the background! :) that is my next move!

If you go black on the background....lay your heater horizontal(which is more beneficial anyway..) Not critiquing just observing....then your tank will look so awesome! Again....each to their own....but man that would make it sweet!

Thanks man! I'll try the heater horizontal. I've thought about it in the past.

Laying a heater horizontal just above bottom will allow the heater to function at its most optimal. Provided it can get enough current around it. Heat rises and his dispersed by the current of course .and..so I do this and stash it behind the aquascaping so it isn't seen. The heaters thermostat will read more accurately as well , when it is horizontal. Anyway.....just a tip!

I also do this in most of my tanks, I also like that I can now do water changes without having to unplug the heater since it stays submersed for all but the most extreme (75% or more) changes. One less thing to have to unplug and remember to plug back in while cleaning up (not that I've ever done that...)
