That thing is *&^%#@! bad!!! I have one I hope it comes out close to how your looks. That is a male?? mine is very small It just the greenish color. What size do they start to get the pearl look? Mine just got its first orange spot on its face. thanks for that video

Thanks! Yes he is a male and the one under the wood is female. He has had the blue since I got him, teal came in heavy about 11-12", and his head got red around that size as well. He has become a threat to my hand when I clean and he is noticeably intelligent.

Nope, still nothing. Stumbled across a thread on MFK where a guy said his pair didn't bond until 15", which gives me hope as these guys are at that size now. We shall see, I really enjoy them either way.

Very nice! I just recently got back into the hobby after a 4 year break and seeing that bad boy is making me wanna set up a big tank and get me a male.

Well welcome back! I plan on building a tank in the 600 range for these two to see what they can really become when given the proper environment. I really don't need any other fish than my umbees.

Yes, umbee have overtaken my Dovii obsession. Top three fish this morning are the umbee, the five spot jewels, and the red isletas ..... These three have the best personalities in my opinion ! Like dogs.
