So yeah, I'm a dope. Irresponsible even. I saw a post on Craigslist (how many tales of woe start that way, I wonder?) for 2 oscars and a pleco. I really wanted the oscars and so didn't ask about the pleco.
I met the people in a Dairy Queen parking lot at night where they handed over a bucket with a bag in it. I didn't look inside the bag and just took it home. Imagine my surprise to find two 10" oscars and a 12" pacu in the bucket.
I know that pacu can live for many years and are 3 to 4 feet long in their maturity so I know that Paco the pacu is not going to fit into any of my aquariums. I feel really bad about this and I would like to make it right if I can.
This all happened within the last week and I need to find him a new home if at all possible. Does anyone have any ideas? I think I'll start with calling some lfs and then what about commercial aquarium people who might want a large fish in one of their tanks?
