Now that I have your attention…
I had an interesting thing happen in my 135 gallon community tank. Among other things, I have 9 angels in the tank and they appear to be getting to that age. The other night, the 3 gold angels got together and the two females started laying eggs together on the overflow stack and then the male was trying to fertilize all of them. They didn't exactly know what they were doing though, as the females were not attaching them very well - the rest of the angels and black tetra school had a good snack. Then the next night the two black angel did the same thing (only 2 this time).
I assume that the two females with one male was was more a factor of them just figuring things out. The tank is pretty chaotic (nothing more aggressive than the angels) and the angels all get along pretty well – for now at least. If I put the three-way combo in their own tank, would the male mate with both the females or just choose one?
I have a convict I am trying to re-home in the free section along with some bala sharks. As soon as I clear them out of the tank, going to put one of the 3 paired off groups into that tank and actually try and have a successful hatching.
Attached is a crappy phone pic that is not even of the described incidents – but what the hell, here are the angels.
