It looks like it has ick, lol. I like them because they have a hint of blue in the white fins and dots. It dosent seem the photo picked that up which is unfortunate.

For me it's neat because I have a 100 fish that I see all the time. So it's like a nice surprise when one of these pop out. I have more than a few shy critters. At lest one will be spotted once a week. So it maybe 3 weeks before I see this particular fish, but in the mean while another will show itself.

Besides my youngest son I am the only one in my household that's into aquatics. My family think I'm a goof everytime I'm all " OHH LOOK AT THAT ONE", then get up and start snapping photos, haha!

She's a beauty! It would be awesome if you had a pair and they produced offspring. Looking on planet catfish, it says they like bamboo caves. If you want to try a chunk of bamboo, I can give you one. If you position it strategically in the tank and it uses it, you'll be able to find it easily.

Kara, they are just like any other fish -- you don't have to have a need to keep them. If you want one and they get along with the fish you already have, I say get one. :D

Thank you Betty. The fish is currently in my larger tank along with 3-4 different small pleco species. I don't get much breeding action in this aquarium.

He's a neat one, I'd put him in my 29g with the other BN plecos and he'd have to show himself a bit. Lots of small caves but no huge ones to live in all the time. I'm still eying the Medusa L034 I've seen at Aquarium Coop though.

Maybe I will have to give another species a shot. I think my pleco has just left a bad impression on me because I don't ever see him unless I force it, which I don't like to do unless it is necessary. It wouldn't annoy me so much if I saw him every once in awhile.

As with many Catfish species being shy (and or nocturnal) is quite common. Seems it also depends greatly on the fish personality. I have a Super Red Bristlenosed pleco I see almost everyday. Then I have a common type Bristlenosed pleco that I NEVER see. I also have a sweet looking South American bumblebee catfish. I don't think I've seen him now in over 6 months...

I have a pair on progress. I bought the male from the swap meet. And i actually found a female after leaving the swap meet and decided to go Midway. They have a last l183 in stock and it was a female. I will post pics later on. Hoping to get them breed soon :)

Thank's but you know she gets really pale easily. Like she makes 3-5 with stripes across her back and she become looking really weird. But my other L183 Male stays really dark and i only saw him get a little paler but its not even that pale. Could that be a different characteristic of the male and a female L183. Like the female shows more marks when stressed/disturbed?
