aclimating wild caught fish

I'm planning to start a fish tank with whatever fish I catch this spring and summer. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with switching wild fish from live food to prepared foods?

I scooped up a couple stickleback minnows out of a drying up puddle. They would only take blood worms. Ended up dumping them in my parents pond. I guess it depends what type of fish. Trout will take prepared food because they are all from fish farms anyways lol.

Can't you collect species that are on the invasive list? For example, the stickleback minnow =D

To answer your question with wc fish I have bought from Central America..... I have found two approaches.

One ..... It's the more risky one by also the fastest..... I withhold food from the fish until they are hungry enough to eat anything

Two..... I give them krill or blood worms ( frozen that I thaw) while also giving them a pellet or two ...... To teach the fish that pellets are good too...

Monsters of fishing for fish and bringing them home, you could jump in on the cold water group buy. There are a lot of fish on that list that you could find in the pac northwest
