What did you do with your tank(s) today?

5:00pm and still no power at the house, battery air pumps still running on my tanks. Saw my temp on the 300 was down to 73 degrees and the fish were looking okay.

PSE has no update info as when power will be restored but many neighborhoods around are coming on now. Current at my sister in laws, warming up and eating some dinner. Will swing by the house later and if no power we will go back to my sister in laws and spend the night.

A couple of my cheaper battery air pumps are ridiculously loud. I might order a couple of newer ones to replace the loud ones. So glad I have these for such emergencies.

2:15 in the morning and we got power. Lowest temp in the house was at was 60 degrees and the 300 gallon was reading 72 degrees. I didnt check temps on garage tanks but it didnt feel overly cold out there and the fish didnt appear to be in any sort of distress. All heaters on tanks are in the on position trying to get temps back up and fish seem no worse for the temporary power outage.

@fishguy1978, sad to see the fishroom looking so bare, maybe one day in the future you will set up a few more tanks…

My parents always had tanks around when I was a kid and then I took care of my own tanks in my teens and early twenties. After getting married and raising my son, I was out of fish keeping for over twenty years. But then the desire to get back into the hobby hit and I slowly added tanks to create a fishroom and a living room show tank. At times it seems like a lot and I have two empty tanks going cause I cant find anything of interest at the moment but Ive had fun with it. When it stops being fun then I know its time to downsize or get out of the hobby.

Put in an order for more food and stuff from Kens online. Ive been using the Hikari blood parrot food for a while now and have noticed great color improvement in my red spot severums and in my red tail giant gourami. I also am ordering a couple more of the new intake tubes for the Aquaclear 110. The new style really is easier to clean and looks better.

Ugh, been getting over a cold so not much going on with my fish tanks. A couple glass clean and drain and fill water changes but not much else that required a whole lot of effort. On the mend however and starting to feel better so some Aquaclear filter cleanings coming up soon. Still need to clean out one FX6 on the 300g and add my new Fluval UV but just havent been motivated yet.

The 300 has been a flurry of activity with all the new fishes... almost too much at times. Kind of wish I hadnt done the two groups of schooling fish (filament + roselines) but at this point it would be a nightmare trying to catch and remove any, lol

Still getting over my cold but worked on garage tanks. Gravel vac water changes, cleaned out one Aquaclear and put new style intake tubes on. The tanks are sparkling and water looks 'crispy'.

The 300 was treated with frozen brine and krill. The giant gourami loves krill

Was hoping to be over my cold sooner, have two empty tanks that I want to try and do something about, but dont want to go to any fish stores. Im limited due to sizes of tanks with them being a 40B and 65B, breeder sized footprint of 36" x18". The 40B is one that I hate the substrate so Im looking to change that out too.

Just got through doing some stock up on fish foods and am not very happy with the current goldfish foods. Im using NLS goldfish and a special food designed for bloat which the fish readily eat and have no digestive issues with but the colors are lacking. In the past I was using the NLS Algaemax in their diet which I just purchased to see if that help or is better than the standard goldfish pellet.

I won’t speak about the ups and downs of my fish adventures right after Christmas….. but I will share that I gave aquarium paradise both my 10” jardini arrowana and my 11” sulver arrowana for Dom to put in his 600 gallon show tank.

I then add a beautiful 5” peacock bass to my bedroom tank, added two more buffalo head cichlids to my lone male and am having Dom order me in some additonal ones to make a nice little colony in my living room 75.

I also relocated my fire eel (12”), my clown knife (7”) to my tank with my hoplo cats and some other various catfish from fishguy1978. I then headed up to tropical fish world and pets and bought 2 7” zig zag eels and one 7” tire track eel to the tank. It is so much fun watching the eels, all the catfish, and the knife swim around when I add a chunk of frozen bloodworms to the tank. I also recently added a medium sized all black angel fish to that tank as it was I. My step dads tank and was being mean to his schooling fish.

I currently on the hunt for a large tank for my garage. I’d like it to be 7’ long and 24-30 inches wide.

There was an 8 foot tank I looked at online, but didn’t want to pull the trigger since it was 800 and the acrylic looked to have some scratches in it.

I have also been giving some serious thought about a freshwater morey eel for the peacock tank since they are both predatory and the peacock won’t fit in its mouth and vice versa. I found a website to purchase them, but not sure I want to pay the shipping fees even thought the cost of the fish is pretty reasonable!

Here’s the website: https://exoticfishguy.com/

@lloyd378, I saw those tire track eels last time I was there at Tropical fish world. Wanted one so badly but I havent had good success with them in the past. Was too finicky of an eater and I think it just ended up starving. Love the idea of a freshwater morey, would be cool to have one.

The living room 'fishroom' got a bit of an update. My wife wanted some new furniture so we got a new leather sofa and smaller sized recliner from Macy's on sale. A little better in terms of scale with it not being as 'poofy' and more sleek, plus it is a nice navy blue.

The room somewhat put back together

If you look at the website the eels are currently but 1 get 1 50% off… super tempting but still 40 bucks for overnight shipping is a hard pill to swallow.
