Love the color in that tank!
Thanks, the sevs were looking very washed out and I switched to Hikari blood red parrot pellets and the colors are just so bright. Im liking moving them to the 300 to have color in that tank too

Due to the high aggression from the dominant sev in the 90g, I decided to move him over to the 300 with the big Oscar. No issues whatsoever, the Oscar doesnt even pay attention to this fish at all. I was thinking the size difference would be an issue and its not. I know if I add the other two this (believed male) sev will start the whole process of dominance again since he will try to pair up with the female and likely make life miserable for the other male. Just not sure if the 8ft tank will make a difference in that regard or not.

Will say that I love the little splash of color that this solo red spot sev adds. Cant wait to get the clown loaches and barbs in the tank!

Picked up 3 more roselines for the 300 this afternoon from Tropical Fish World in Buckley. This will bring the total to 9 which should look pretty impressive when they get larger. They are currently in Quarantine. I had considered adding a Siamese algae eater but after watching them a bit, I kind of noticed they dont stand out as much as a roseline. They only have a stripe down the body and no real color to speak of so decided against adding any.

Would love to add something like a tire track eel but I tried one in the past. It was a finicky eater and never could get it pellet trained. I watched the ones at the store and they were swimming by Hikari sinking Carnivore pellets and totally ignoring them. I knew it was not a good thing for me to even try my hand at one again.

My fire eel only eats frozen bloodworms and frozen krill ….. zero interest in pellets or flake.

I wish it did though as I get tired of feed it bloodworms when most get eaten by the catfish in the tank with him

The other issue with an eel in the 300 would be the fierce competition for food. The barbs and loaches would get to food first and barely any would get to any shy eaters.

Yesterday I had to pull the female sev due to aggression. She decided she was going to breed and dug a pit and was hard core chasing loaches out of the area. I believe she would have killed one for sure. I think that happened to at least one hoplo cat in the 90 when she was trying to breed then. The male hoplo had its side fin bitten off and it healed but then I lost it and another female hoplo soon after. I did not want to lose any loaches so I pulled her and put her in my 40B for the time being. The solo male sev in the 300 seems to be getting along well with the gourami and the tank seems fairly calm for the moment.
