Zonatus sexing

At what size/ time can you determine the sex of this fish? And what are the distinguishing attributes?

None and none. Some say that the male has more red in the face, but honestly, unless you vent them or have 2 pair off, its almost impossible. The females turn more blue when spawning and the males get taller, longer and develop a slight hump.

Ok, do you know when they reach maturity ?

Mine spawned at 9", but that doesn't mean they can't sooner

My female was laying eggs by her self with no male at about 6 inches. She does have a lot of blue/ green in her face.
