why does the female blue gene beat on my male ebjd lately
she beat him up pretty good
why does she do this

JD are territorial aggressive fish. EBJD are just like JD but (usually) without the spine. Give them some more hiding spots where they cannot see each other. If it is really bad separate them until he heals.

yea they mated before about a year ago and she did beat him up before but this time she did a a pretty good job chasing him nipping fins lip locking

Did alot of the fry make it? I would just keep a close eye on them, separate them if it gets to bad. Got pics?
