What is our "reputation" based on?

Does it go up the more we post?
Does it go up if ppl "vote" on our posts?

It only goes up if someone up votes the post. You can only give reputation, not take it away.

Okay, so voting negatively will not remove REP points then?

Nope down voting does not remove rep. It will show up on the post however.  Really all it is, is a way to show someone thanks for posting that info.

is there any way for us to see which post in particular got voted up or down(of our own)? Driving me slightly batty that it doesn't show a bar either way in your own post that I can tell. Though I can see an argument to keep it hidden except as Rep :)

I can relate to this comment. Your REP will go up, but you don't know what post got the thumbs up.
