When I was little my aunt kept fish and had a loach that loved to be snuggled. It would start darting around when you walked into the room and would go a front corner to wait for you. There was one area she fed in and another that was the "play" corner. It always preferred attention over feeding.

I'll have to ask her what it was specifically. I was so young I just remember a long dark brown something. Maybe 8 inches.
