If they are keeping them in local tap water they would be a score even at $100 a pop. If they are dropping the ph down into the 5ish range for them it could be risky to swap to a different tank and a lot of work to maintain.

It seems to me that anyone willing to pay that kind of money for such rare fishes is going to be careful about the water chemistry. There are lots of ways to maintain a low pH aquarium.
