Nice fish. You take great photographs as well. One of these days I'm going to purchase a good camera and pick someones brain on how to photograph fish properly.

Re: Some of my past fishy friends...

EOS 40D, 50mm Macro, Carbon Fiber Tripod, Off camera Flash Overhead, 2 Diffused side lights, A book of foreign curse words, and large quantities of Rum (for me not the fish).

The 4 Biggest mistakes people make...

#1 They do not turn off the filter at least an hour before shooting.
#2 They do not shoot in the darkest conditions possible. (late at night for me).
#3 They try to handhold the camera.
#4 Do not clean the glass before shooting.

Once those things are done the rest is all fine tuning and getting your mad skills going.

Re: Some of my past fishy friends...

I read somewere to use a small tank to limit the movment of the fish. I have a Nikon D-300 I need to fine a good macro for. i guess I'll start on ebay.

That is one method but I don't think you get as natural a shot. I want to capture my critters doing what they do naturally.

Another factor is the moving of the fish. If you do that you then have to wait for the fish to settle and color back up. Some fish go quite bland from the stress and can take a while to get back their true colors.
