I think it's pretty lame that we can't write a little review under our "rating" The number scale doesn't say much about the place. I can understand bashing on the store isn't okay but if people just have some respect and write what they feel about the store (bad and good experiences) then I don't see why it's a problem.

You have a point, but when there are a lot of posts in there, you get a feel for the store with the rating system. Like A Place for Pets. Check that thread. I mean look at the ratings and without even going to that store, you're going to know that they have a nice selection, good service, etc.
And it gets too messy when people say "Well, I like this store, it smells funny, oh and Kevin is nice. They let me bring my dog inside which was cool. Even gave him a treat! I would recommend this store to anyone that likes service and fish"...

Yeah I understand, I guess.... I mean this is just me but I would rather see "Kevin is a nice guy" "good/bad service because...." rather than a number system. And especially with this sites different taste of fish. I mean you like cichlids? You would give a place with a lot of cichlids a rating of 5 for variety, where I would probably give them maybe a 2 because I hate cichlids. And what is wrong with a lot of posts? I like reading through info like that, until it becomes repetitive anyways.
And it did become repetitive IMO. It works very well on other site I think, and for now it'll just be like this. Thank you for the input, I'd like to know what others think as well.
Our forum is pretty lenient, and this section is the only one that people have to follow a certain format. For me, I like to click on a fish store, and see what others rated it before I make a long trip up there.

I agree with both sides on this.. I know some stuff does get said over and over again, and some comments are just dumb.. Is there anyway to add a comment under your rating ?? And if you comment without a rating delet-away. I know there was some good info on some of the comments, like certian people you should go talk to at the store to get the best knowledge and deals?? Just my 2 cents.

Why dont you just have a section to review stores and another section just to rate the stores
this will give people a choice..to either read a bunch of stuff or just look at the ratings

That section HAS to allow comments. The numbers are well and good, but any good review will have some comments. The number system can NOT convey an experience.

This is to only be used to gather personal ratings from other users to get a general consensus on the store. If you want to get a personal opinion from a user about a store please PM them but please keep the words private.

To be of much use, it does need a review, however brief. I understand you don't want people bashing stores, but are you going to screw the rules down so tightly that people are not allowed to have an opinion? Are we not allowed to share a bad experience about a store, even if they are a sponsor?
