My Malawi Tank

Went through about 30 pics trying to get my fish to be still enough to photograpgh them. The flash washed out the pic too much with that white sand. There are actually 13 full-grown (3-6 inches) African Cichlids in there, plus a Chinese Algae Eater, a Spotted Sailfin Pleco and my lonely T-Bar Central American Cichlid. The only way to get them all to come out from hiding is to feed them and then they are moving too fast to photograph them without the flash. The substrate is Silica Sand with Crushed Coral mixed in. The Africans love it... satisfies their nature to dig.

the sand

It is actually not as much sand as it appears to be. There is maybe 50-60 pounds of sand there (50 gallon tank). The fish have rearranged it so much that it looks like a lot. Some of those rocks have almost no sand under them.
