My (kinda new) Fahaka Puffer

Hey guys, just thought I'd post some pictures of the Fahaka puffer I got close to a month ago.  He is said to be somewhere around 6 months old.

Right now I have him in a 29 gallon (yes, I know it's small for a puffer) and plan to upgrade him to my 55 gallon, once the fish in there are moved to an even bigger tank.  I've been feeding him a mixture of prawns, krill and bloodworms, but more recently he's been snacking on the Danios and Kribensis I've been putting in with him.  When I got him I was warned that puffers were messy little fish, and it's very true.  Half of everything he gets in his mouth is spit back into the water, so I've been very vigilant about vacuuming out the waste as much as I can.

Here are a few pictures of him around the tank, including some of him hiding out in the sand for an unsuspecting fish to float by-

Wow, he's awesome! I've heard they are more active than most! I thought about getting one until they suggested a bare minimum 125g..... I've got too many fish to dedicate just one fish to one of my big tanks.

Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see some more pics as he grows

Yeah, the tank size was a concern for me, but he's very happy in the 29g and I do plan on a bigger one soon.

He digs fairly often, but I wouldn't say I catch him doing it more than a couple times a week. Having other fish in there really keeps him active and playful, so he's been doing it more lately.

  Another puffer owner

We will have to start up a whole section just for us puffer owners.

Very cool Fahaka! One of my dream fish but I dont have a tank to dedicate to one. If my Pearsei ever passed, I might consider it.
