Aquatic Conservation in Brazil: from Blackwater to Belo Horizonte
Jen Reynolds, Senior Aquarium Biologist at the Vancouver Aquarium, travelled to Brazil to learn more about aquatic conservation in the region. An exploratory journey up the Rio Negro in the heart of the Amazon rainforest revealed the incredible aquatic biodiversity in South American rivers, while a visit to the busy city of Belo Horizonte in South-eastern Brazil shed light on some of the conservation issues in the region. Jen's talk will introduce you to some of the incredible fishes that call Brazil home, and focus on what Brazilians are doing to protect their natural resources- and what we can do at home to help.
