Escondido and Vontehillo difference?

I've done a little research and learned(correct me if I'm wrong) that the two are in fact the same fish but just come from different areas? I see a visible difference in the two, mainly the size of the spots being lager on the Vontehillo.
My reason for asking is because I have both a beautiful male Escondido and a female Vontehillo that, if in fact these two are considered the same, I would like to breed. If they're two different species then I definitely would wanna cross these two. Although I'm a fan of hybrids, I'm not a fan of hybrids that are two similar type fish like red devil/midas, jag/Dovii, synspilum/melanurus etc.
Thanks guys

I believe they are just like a syn and a melanurus. They come from 2 different lakes with adjoining waterways. I can tell the difference, so me personally, I wouldnt cross. But is it really any different than crossing 2 different colored Festae? I say yes, because a Festae is a Festae, where this Carpintis is a Vont and an Escondido. Just my 2 pennies worth. ;)
