Dragon scale on sale

Petsmart

$4.50 w/pet perks

normally $8.99

Through 2/26

I might go get one myself even though I don't have any room. I don't think these guys have as high of a turnover rate as the other because of their high price so they sit in cups longer and get sicker. The petsmart by the south hill mall had some pretty miserable looking ones last time I went so I might go save one. Breeder net in a filtered tank is a big step up until I can figure out what do do with it.

I am such a betta addict, I've been trying to figure out how to move fish around so that I can take down one of 5gal tanks, guess it's staying up.

Anyone else gonna go get a dragon scale? Would be cool to see pics, I'll def be posting pics of my ugly torn up purchase.

My hubby and I are going to look today. We saw a dragon scale betta the other day that we wanted but the store wanted $15 for it

I'm going to be in the South Hill area today and need water conditioner, so I'll check out the bettas.

I'll leave the ugliest, most torn up one for you. :spoton:
But I tend to do the same thing -- choose one that I don't think anyone else will.

@DMD- Neither do I, betta addictions are a hard one to kick.
@czeiszler-$15 at petsmart? I'd come armed with the petsmart ad, they're a chain store and should have to stick to what the ad says
@betty-haha thanks, I've wanted to buy one for so long. To me they're not very pretty but they look so sick in their cups but I just couldn't pay ten bucks for one
@antraxx-have you actually done that? I'd be too afraid someone would notice at the check stand

I have 6 bettas now :wall: I hate my little tanks!. Oh well, no use fighting the betta itch. I guess seeing how happy they become and how healthy they become is worth the hassle. I have a female veil tail I bought months ago and for over a month she was at the petsmart every time I went in so I finally bought her. She was silver and she had stripes down her side and a light blue sheen on her. My mother named her "trout" because she kinda had the coloring of one. Now she's a very dark plum purple with red fins and her fins are gorgeous.

So all the dragonscales were gone but we got a very pretty female to go in our 10 gallon "harem" she has 2 stripes(racing stripes) and her tail is purple. and we picked up some more ghost shrimp and we picked up a little feather fin catfish. Sure is a cute little bugger. He is going in my cycled 29 with the new betta for a month to quarentine for illness. Oh and we got a Marimo Moss Ball :D Will get pictures up soon.

Gee that's too bad there was none but kudos to you for saving a female. My female had the stripes too until she turned plum purple, always cool to see what color they're supposed to be once they're not dying from ammonia poisoning.

my betta was yellow with black dotted stripes with a bit of red and some black on his fins, but after he'd been home for a few days he turned a beautiful blue. He's got three bands of color on his fins - blue, then red, then black. He'll loose the color on his body when he gets freaked out over the water changes. :)

Well, I don't know too much about identifying bettas, but I could tell that a couple were not the same as the rest that were in the dragon scale cups. (I'd be upset if someone switched lids and I didn't buy what I thought I was buying, regardless of price. :x )

Anyway, here's the sad little betta I picked up, whatever type it is. It looked colorless at the bottom of it's little cup in the store. At first I thought it was dead, but when I picked up the cup, it started moving around a bit. :)

Oh what a beauty Betty! You can't even tell they're the same betta, even the dorsal fin looks different! You can tell it doesn't feel good in that first pic. Carol, where's your betta pics? I'm gonna try and get to petsmart Saturday.

So I went to the persmart closest to my house and I should have gone to the south hill one. They had dragon scales but none of them were terrible looking, which I guess is a good thing. All the ones they had were extremely tiny, was hoping for a big guy but...

Anyways I did get one, my mother really wanted me to get the largest one they had(which was still pretty small) and his fins were beautiful and perfect and he was royal blue. I admit I was tempted but I got one of the dinky, it's fins were clamped. He's kind of lavender in color and his lips are neon blue(kinda looks like he's suffering from hypothermia with those lips) His fins un-clamped when he got into the tank and I got a couple pics of him(which I will post tomorrow) before he went into hiding. Super scared little betta and he's been hiding since we got home. I may go to the south hill petsmart thursday and take a looksy and see if there's any big meaty guys that look sick and need a home

That looks like a nice one Gryphon.

Ratlova, that's too bad. We can't save them all, but at least you're trying. Hope your guy will be okay.

Mine is looking good so far. He seemed so lifeless at the store, but has really perked up. When he sees me come into the room, he comes up front to check things out, he's not shy at all. He's learning what NLS is and has started eating it. :)
