Dark spots on old drift wood

I recently acquired a tank with some very old driftwood that has some sort of dark spots I assume algae. Should I be concerned with it? Thanks!

Nope, a good bristle nose plecostomus will destroy that stuff....I may be mistaken but when I notice those black spots on my drift wood it's usually because that section is soft and covered in algae. The plecos will eat it off down to the hard wood again ( though your filter will look like sawdust water haha)
