BN bristles question (and pics)

Does anyone know if their bristles continue to grow throughout their lives?

I've also wondered what their purpose is? Do the females prefer males with bigger bristles?

That almost looks like the medusa plecos I've seen :)

I always thought it was to scare off predators. They can get kind of mean when they get territorial.

In my experience the ladies like the bristles ;)

It's interesting that the article said they might resemble fish larvae and work to attract females. I wonder if that also makes them attractive to other fish looking for a quick snack!
