Hey guys, how to I get algae out of my tank seals? Do I have to remove the silicone and reseal?

Alright, I've got 1 of my 2 canisters running in a Rubbermaid tub with tank water to keep bacteria alive. My other canister is running with no media strictly for water circulation. All fish and decorations are out, with just some of the gravel remaining. I just did a full water change with untreated tap water and added 64 oz. of hydrogen peroxide about an hour ago. How long should I leave the peroxide in before changing the water again and adding Excel? The algae seems to be weakening, starting to come off the glass easier.

Do a search on aquatic plant central using the term "1-2 punch" that will tell you the times. I find peroxide will take longer for it to work then using Excel. If you have time and short on funds, drain the tank and spray with peroxide and scrape off the algae. Skip Excel.
