    GPAS Annual Plant Auction

Hello everyone! The Greater Portland Aquarium Society, or GPAS, will be holding its Annual Plant Auction on Sunday, April 10th at 3:00pm. Actual auction should start around 3:30pm to give everyone a chance to look at what is available. There should be at least one person there that knows about...

    GPAS Annual Plant Auction

Meant to post this sooner, but for anyone interested in buying plants or shrimp - the Greater Portland Aquarium Society is having their annual auction of plants (we'll also have shrimp and I'm 95% sure of fish that are safe for planted aquariums) on Sunday, April 26th at 3:00PM. It will be held...

GPAS: Rusty Wessel's Fishes of the Maya! - October

The Greater Portland Aquarium Society will be having Rusty Wessel coming in from Kentucky doing his Fishes of the Maya presentation. I see that he did one in Seattle earlier on, but if you missed it, closer to Portland, want to visit Portland (and see it), want a chance at rarer specimens he...

The direction of the aquarium hobby

I don't recall how exactly we got the fish. Whether I asked or parents bought as a gift. I think I got my first betta in Jan 2000. Only survived like a month (he was white and I named him Cloud, lol), but then we got a new one. My brother also had one in a 2 gallon (named Rainbow). Rainbow lived...

    My first 29 gallon tank!

It seems most Julii Cories are False. True Julii's have rounder markings: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=378 The Trilineatus is generally what the "Julii Cory" is: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=508 Looks like your Honey Gourami is...

    Is this real life?!

I've never seen one with that big of a hump. I think it is too big for the fish body as the fish seems to be having some issues swimming at times.

I Don't Always Keep My Aquarium Clean...

Somewhat true. Well with the algae on the glass. I tend to wipe down the front of my 36 gallon 1-2 times a month. I very rarely touch the back glass. Of course, I usually do a before and after picture.

    Best Substrate for Corydoras?

Would panda Cories show up on that? I guess Wet Spot has them on light brown sand... so probably then. I am planning on redoing my tank so I could change substrate at the same time since I was planning on getting different plants, etc. It will be quite the endeavor.

    Best Substrate for Corydoras?

What is the best substrate for Corydoras? I'm thinking the CaribSea Tahitian Moon Sand has been damaging my Corydoras barbels though love the look of the sand. I'm not fully sure if the death of my last cory was from that or just because it looked quite skinny compared to the others. Or if...

    Pangio myersi

Sorry for the long time to respond... I haven't talked with Anthony at Wet Spot, but I've not seen them there and I go maybe 2-4 times a month. I think I originally purchased my P. myersi at World of Wet Pets in Beaverton back in February 2009. At least I am pretty sure that is the one that is...
