Welcome to the saltwater world! I guess before anyone can answer your question on what size plumbing you should use, we need to know if your tank is drilled for overflow and how big are those holes, or if you're going to use one of those overflow box that sits in the back? Haven't heard you...

At 30" tall, I think your only option is to let it sits on the floor and have some reinforcement at the corners...drop in a couple monsters like rays and catfish and you're good to go. Not sure if you have young children playing around but I'm sure you don't want to put it on the stand either...
