Plecomania the untold story

All plecos are doing quite well. I received some news recently that there is a small chance that i may be able to get my hands on a very rare pleco species. They may be offered in all 3 stages. I am hoping that if a stage 1 is available at a decent price i may jump on it. The pleco is the Luteus. It grows in stages. Here are pictures of the 3 stages, first pic is stages 1 last is stage 3. Well today i will be adding 3 more, an L014 , L273 and L264. But before the add i need to tear the tank a part. Why you ask? Lol well i started the tank by putting in 6 tiny little red devil fry, those fry are now 3-5" and they eat everything, nothing gets to the plecs. So i need to tear it a part to catch the pigs. More to come :) 20220105_152827.jpg20220105_152819.jpgIMG_20220102_184418_778.jpg20220106_143923.jpg

Working on editing a video where most of my clan come out to eat. I can't believe how big my L24s, L25, L273 have gotten, and their colors are popping nicely

Time for an update on the pleco tank. All is doing amazing. Some are growing faster than others. Like the 273 is getting huge and beautiful, while the blue phantoms are still small, but beautiful as well. No new additions since the 97 and the 253. Don't see much of them unless i feed them their favorite food lol. Keeping a pleco tank with 20 plecos in it completely clean is almost impossible, i bet @DMD123 would just go nuts trying to keep this tank free of floating debris. :rofl

Enjoy the few picks I've been able to getIMG_20220425_204452_287.jpg20220419_145402.jpg20220419_145315.jpg20220419_145501.jpg20220419_145201.jpg20220303_143954.jpgVideoCapture_20220313-164523.jpg20220310_151339.jpg

I noticed that Freshwater Exotics has the pleco I just got:
Parancistrus aurantiacus ” Xanto Yellow” 4-5″ $275.00

Granted a bit bigger than what I got but with the yellow change they now become a $300 pleco. Sadly no guarantees it will stay yellow. But they are still a really cool pleco none the less.

Holy heck, it has been almost 2 years since I have added anything to this thread. SOOOOOO, here goes.

All of the Plecos I wrote about above are still alive and doing quite well. My L240 (Vampire) and the L114 (Leopard Cactus x3) are all growing much faster than the others. They are about 7" give or take. @DMD123 the green phantom I got from you is still doing great. I have 2 others and all 3 I find once in a while jostling around arguing over food. Since 2022 I have added another L024, and a very small L600. I have not seen the 600 in a while so I am hoping that it is just hiding really well and is growing nicely.

2 months ago I attempted to order a few Plecos directly from Brazil. Some very rare Plecos that I have been wanting for a while. Another L600 but with more orange in the fins, L024 Scarlet Red, L025 Scarlet Red, another L014, L095 and 2x L082. It has been a stressful process. I just received a message that the flight has been booked. I am still vey skeptical but we shall see. I hope that it all does work out and it is just a lengthy process. I would love to buy more directly from the source without the insane mark-ups from the dealers here in the U.S. Lets take the L025 Scarlet Red for example. To buy here in the states one at 5" is about $400, I paid $40. Even if the final shipping payment for just that 1 fish is $200, I still saved a lot.

So we shall see.

I have tons of vids and pics I will have to update here on the thread.
